Overview:
Workers and Foster/Resource Parents often struggle to get basic information about a child in care that will help them provide the best care for the child. For Example - information such as the child’s allergies, medication prescriptions, and school information can help workers find the best placement for a child, and help the foster parents care for the child. This information is often stored on paper, or not at all, and is often lost as cases move between workers, and children move between placements.
If a child moves to a new placement or exits, the placement can no longer see their information in the Family Portal. This will be automatic and the worker does not need to turn the permission off manually. Additionally, this feature is available for both standard and respite placements.

Workers can grant permission on the Add/Edit Placement page for a placement to see the child’s info in Family Portal (this permission is off by default). From the blue ribbon navigate to the Children/Youth tab > Add Filter > Search for child > Select Actions.

For Foster/Resource Parents
When logging into Family Portal (using the same login they use for licensing), if they have 1+ children in their home AND the worker has granted permission, they will see the new “Kids in My Care” section and profile of the child/children in the portal.

This feature will be enabled for standard placements to start with, and we are also targeting enabling it for respite care placements in the future as well. The information shown to Foster/Resource Parents is the same data that workers enter in the Child Page in Binti (see below for details).

Agency View
Workers can access this information by clicking on the Children/Youth tab > Add filter > Search for Child > Select Child Name or Select Actions > Child Data
The following fields located in the Child Data section will NOT be shown to the family, and can be used for internal/agency notes:
- “Other Comments” field
- “Case Carrying Worker Placement Recommendations”
- SSN (due to data privacy/security)
- Associated Relatives/Fictive Kin
- Placement Search History
- Placement History / Past Placements
- Respite History / Past Respites
